From June 5th to June 17th Module 2 of Pacific Islands Orthopaedic Association (PIOA) was held in Apia, Samoa. The topics were Infection, Inflammation and Professional topics, in addition a standardised trauma database for the Pacific Island countries was established. Nora Renz from Pro Implant Foundation was involved in the infection lectures and development of the infection form for the database.
These workshops provide an up-to-date information and practical approach to manage infections after fracture fixation and cover prevention, diagnosis and combined (antimicrobial and surgical) treatment.
