Here her feedback:
"During october and november 2015 I had the honor of spending 7 weeks at the Center for Septic Surgery at Charité - University Medicine Berlin.
As a 6th year medical student I was able to observe and be a part of the daily work of the team of orthopedic surgeons and infectology specialists at this unique center.
My work consisted of participating on morning rounds, helping out at the ward and assisting at surgical procedures.
During my stay I was able to learn about various kinds of prosthetic joint infections, I learned about their proper prevention, diagnosis and treatment and assisted in the surgical treatment of these same cases.
It was amazing to see how the combination of the right antimicrobal treatment in conjunction with the proper surgical treatment brings great results.
It really was a great experience and I would like to thank PD Dr. Andrej Trampuz, Head of Center for Septic surgery at CMSC for being a great and generous mentor and sharing his knowledge with me.
So to any specialist, resident or medical student, trying to expand their knowledge of the treatment of prosthetic joint infections, I would highly recommend visiting this excellent and unique multidisciplinary center for Septic surgery."
