Workshop on Prosthetic Joint Infection (SI)

Course Information

Knee Prosthesis

It is our pleasure to invite you to our Workshop on Spinal Infections. After successful organization of over 30 Workshops on Prosthetic Joint Infection (PJI) and Workshops on Infections after Fracture Fixation since 2010, we added this new topic based on your suggestions.

Implant-associated infections occur in up to 10% after fracture fixation. Bacteria grow on medical devices as biofilm, making them difficult to detect and hard to eradicate. Infections after fracture fixation cause considerable morbidity and healthcare costs. An efficient management concept can significantly improve the outcome and life quality of patients.

The Workshop on Spinal infections (SI) provides an up-to-date information and a practical approach to manage implant associated spinal infections. Emphasis is put on interdisciplinary teamwork, open discussions and practical advice for the daily clinical work. Case discussions and interactive lectures were specially designed to interact and share experience between speakers and participants.

The course is a mix of lectures by expert scientists in the domain, interactive case discussion and practical (hands-on) workshops.

Goal: microorganisms 26To review, update and advance the theoretical and practical knowledge concerning the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of implant-associated infections, with focus on infections of the locomotory apparatus.
